The Weaverville Fire Protection District hosted our annual Appreciation Dinner for the Weaverville Volunteer Firefighter on Saturday January 25th at the La Grange restaurant.  Firefighters were honored for the hundreds of hours they willingly donated through out the year protecting the Community of Weaverville.  This year Weaverville Firefighters responded to 529 calls for service, spent over 100 hours doing community service and attended 4,712 hours of training.

Highlights of the evening included a social hour, longevity awards, Department awards and appreciation gift for each Firefighter.  The newly formed Support Services group was honored by the members for their dedicated service and devotion to making our organization run smoothly.  Fred Maddox was honored for his work over the past 6 years.

Todd Corbett, Assistant Fire Chief was honored for his 10 years of service with Weaverville Fire.  Todd responded to 73 calls this year and covered the on-call 75 nights with over 175 hours of training.  All this in addition to working full time at Trinity Hospital.

Gus Kormeier was honored for 5 years of service.  During the past year Gus responded to 98 calls for service, 71 on-call nights and over 200 hours of training.  During the past year Gus responded to the Salmon River Complex fire and the Rim Fire in Yosemite.

Roan Lovely was honored for 5 years of service.  Roan was not available to respond to many calls this year due to her pregnancy and the birth of her son.  She has been an active member over the years and will be moving into the Support Services area of the Department.

Each of these members were presented with a specially fabricated belt buckle with the beloved hand cart depicted on the front of the buckle. 

Ernie Curran received the “Firefighter of the Year” award for 2013.  During the year Ernie responded to 136 calls and attended over 200 hours of Department training.  In addition Ernie works part time as an EMT for Trinity County Life Support and spent the Fire Season working as Firefighter with Cal Fire at the Fawn Lodge Station.  Ernie spent many hours working with the Fire Explorers and attend the California Fire Explorer Academy as advisor.  He coordinated and presented the live-fire training at Shasta College Training Facility for all Trinity County Firefighters.

Jordan Hamilton was presented with two awards this year, “Responder of the Year” and “Rookie of the Year”.  During the past year Jordan responded to 274 calls, and attended over 250 hours of Department training.  He attended the Explorer Academy and is currently enrolled in the Shasta College Fire Academy.  Jordan was presented with two multi tools engraved with his name and the name of the award.

Jeffrey Hamilton was given the first ever runner-up to responder of the year.  He responded to 270 call this past year just 4 behind his brother Jordan.
